NOVUS// Tiny Tina DLC

If she doesn't make a 'D6/G6' joke I don't even.....

I may not have expected them to go there... but they are. For the good of us all. As a fan of tabletop gaming, this is the BL2 dlc I've been most excited about. I collect dice & am currently working on my Elf Ninja in Pathfinder like, right now! In an homage to the progenitor of the rpg genre, Borderlands 2's newest dlc proves that Gearbox can't pretend they don't somehow owe Dungeons & Dragons' late, great Gary Gygax. Many expect this to be the final content addition to 2012's Borderlands 2, but knowing the kind of eccentric team Gearbox is, we may yet be surprised.

Take part in an adventure narrated by Bunker Master Tiny Tina herself as she leads you through the post-apocalyptic Dark Ages of Pandora.

I PUT ON MY WIZARD HAT

One of the best things about BL2 is the self-aware humor. Growing up in the 80's puts you in touch with just about every joke they could make, but AoDK's sense of humor specifically highlights tabletop nerds. Having experienced any video game rpgs might be enough for the inside jokes to be accessible, but I have a feeling that only the biggest of nerds will appreciate it to the full-extent...

Whether you've thrown dice or not, Gearbox is sure to have included more stabs at other video games (& probably themselves) than we can easily count, so anyone who enjoyed the core game won't feel ostracized. AoDK will feel exactly like BL2, but every texture has been reskinned to fit the new theme - even the loot chests.

There are tons of new things... especially enemies. Skeletons, golems, treants, trolls, pixies, giants, knights, & probably many more that we don't know about yet. Creative Director of Gearbox, Paul Hellquist, commented, "We were tired of robots." Goliath-like golems level up to Badass versions of themselves, a familiar mechanic to any BL2 player.

New loot still doesn't include melee weapons, but it does have Tiny Tina themed eq, including a gun that shoots swords. Yes I said that. Eridium can now be used to roll for Legendary Weapons, but with the increased rate for drops of the precious element, you won't feel so bad about spending it, you hoarder.

What--
There are also more quests in this expansion than there were in any of the other BL2 dlc, which to me says a lot about the way Gearbox actually feels for this fantastic addition. I expect it to be the best subsequent dlc in the series, & those who bought the season pass will be rewarded with it for free. Everyone else has to shell out $10, but AoDK is sure to be worth more than that.

Are these new costumes? I am so getting that freakin' hood.

Put it on your list.
